Tropical Cyclone Outlook for Coral Sea

Existing Cyclones in the Eastern Region:

Potential Cyclones:


There are currently no significant systems in the region and there is a Very Low likelihood of a tropical cyclone in the region up to and including Friday 17 March.

A tropical low is forming near New Caledonia. It is likely to remain east of the region throughout this week, there is a slight chance that it moves westward and over the Coral Sea from Saturday 18 March. There is uncertainty in the timing of the low moving into the region and how favourable the environmental conditions will be for development. The likelihood of a tropical cyclone in the region increases to Low on Saturday 18 March and Sunday 19 March and to Moderate risk on Monday 20 March, Tuesday 21 March and Wednesday 22 March.
