Updated Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

Issued at 2:28 pm WST on Wednesday 4 January 2023
for the period until midnight WST Saturday 7 January 2023.

Potential Cyclones:


At 2pm AWST Wednesday 4 January ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie was located about 130 kilometres east southeast of Broome, near 18.6S 123.3E. The low is expected to be remain over the west Kimberley during Wednesday before moving to the east southeast further inland on Thursday and on Friday. It is not expected to move over water and intensify.

Intermittent gale force winds are expected about the west Kimberley coast including Broome on Wednesday and into Thursday.

Heavy rainfall and flooding is occurring over the west Kimberley and expected to continue near the system for the next few days. Refer to the latest warnings at http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/warnings/
