Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

Issued at 2:00 pm WST on Thursday 5 January 2023
for the period until midnight WST Sunday 8 January 2023.

Potential Cyclones:


Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie is located southeast of Broome and has been slow moving. The low is expected to move to the southeast and further inland tonight and Friday and then gradually weaken on the weekend.

Intermittent gale force winds about the west Kimberley coast are expected to ease as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie moves inland. Heavy rainfall and flooding is occurring over the west Kimberley and expected to continue near the system for the next few days. Refer to the latest warnings at http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/warnings/
