Updated Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

for the period until midnight WST Friday 10 February 2023.

Existing Cyclones in the Western Region:

Tropical Cyclone Freddy (13U) lies near 13.8S 118.1 E at 8am Tuesday, about 640 kilometres northwest of Broome and is moving south southwest at 12 kilometres per hour. It poses no threat to the Western Australian coast. High TC ratings for the next seven days for Tropical Cyclone Freddy as it moves west over open waters. Potential Cyclones:

Tropical Low (11U) was located in the Indian Ocean near 13.1S 99.0E at 8am WST Tuesday, about 250 kilometres east southeast of the Cocos (Keeling) Island, moving at southwest at 10 kilometres per hour. Tropical Low 11U is forecast to slowly intensify as it moves west. It has a Moderate chance of becoming a tropical cyclone on Wednesday, increasing to High for Thursday. The system is then expected to move out of the region (west of 90E) during Thursday or Friday morning. The chance of 11U being a tropical cyclone within the Western region decreases to Low for Friday and Very Low from Saturday onwards.
