Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

Issued at 2:00 pm WST on Thursday 9 February 2023
for the period until midnight WST Sunday 12 February 2023.

Existing Cyclones in the Western Region:

Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy was located in the central Indian Ocean, well off the Pilbara coast. It continues to move west, further away from the coast. Freddy has a High chance of remaining a tropical cyclone in the region for the next seven days.

Potential Cyclones:


Tropical Low (11U) was located in the central Indian Ocean, well southwest of Cocos Islands. It has moved out of the Western Region (west of 90E) today. The chance of 11U being a tropical cyclone within the Western region is Very Low.

There are no other signficant systems in the region and none expected in the next seven days.
