Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

Issued at 2:00 pm WST on Friday 10 February 2023
for the period until midnight WST Monday 13 February 2023.

Existing Cyclones in the Western Region:

At 10am WST Friday 10, Tropical Cyclone Freddy, category 2, was located in the central Indian Ocean, approximately 950 kilometres northwest of Exmouth and well away from the Pilbara coast. Tropical Cyclone Freddy is forecast to continue to move west across the Indian Ocean and remain a tropical cyclone for the next seven days. However, from Thursday 16 February Freddy may be moving to the west of the Australian region and the risk of it being a tropical cyclone in the region reduces to Moderate. During Friday the 17 February, Freddy is likely to be even further west and the risk of being a tropical cyclone in the Australian region is Very Low.
