Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

Existing Cyclones in the Western Region:

At 8am WST Friday 10, Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy, category 3, was located in the central Indian Ocean, 475 kilometres south of Christmas Island and well away from the Western Australian coast. Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy is forecast to continue to move west across the Indian Ocean. Freddy is expected to remain a tropical cyclone for the next seven days, however, from Wednesday 15 February it is expected to be moving to the west of the Australian region. From Thursday 16 February, Freddy is likely to be moving further west and the risk of being a tropical cyclone in the Australian region is Low. During Friday 17 and Saturday 18 February, Freddy is expected to be well west of the Australian region and ratings return to Very Low.
