Tropical Cyclone Outlook for the Western Region

Issued at 7:16 am WST on Sunday 2 April 2023
for the period until midnight WST Tuesday 4 April 2023.

Existing Cyclones in the Western Region:

Tropical Cyclone Herman is over open waters of the Indian Ocean approximately 760 kilometres west northwest of Exmouth and is now moving to the west and rapidly weakening. Herman is expected to weaken below tropical cyclone intensity later today. From Monday 3 April the likelyhood of it being a tropical cyclone decreases to Very Low.

This system is not expected to impact the Australian mainland, Cocos Islands, or Christmas Island.

A weak tropical low, 22U, may form as a weak and transient low over open waters well north of the Pilbara coast. If it forms it is expected to move west but remain weak and well offshore. The Likelihood of it being a tropical cyclone is Very Low during the next seven days.
