+ | Darvincia's early history mainly concerns the migrations of various peoples about Nausikkak, both human and Saguan. The arrival of saguans in what is now Darvincia was very early, with the earliest stone artifacts dating back to 900 thousand years ago. Most of the artifacts are found in the southern parts of Darvincia, opposite to the current distribution of Saguans within the nation. Humans arrived in Darvincia around fifty thousand years ago, and they were closely related to the Door Lake humans which lived in Blaist Blaland. The northern, more arid regions of Darvincia remained uninhabited by anyone for a long time, with Saguans only arriving there about twenty thousand years ago, pushed out of the southern part of the country by the Darvincians. Much work has been done to discover what pushed out the Saguans and drove them to near extinction within the nation.

+ | Around 2500 BG, the Auspiks were pushed south into Darvincia by the arrival of Himalians. Other cultures flooded into Darvincia, eventually pushing the old Darvincian culture to a small remnant of its former size on the islands in the Maki'ifi Sea. The main peoples who arrived during the second millenium BG were the Kyrexzani and the Naxmaldon from southwestern Blaland. The Naxmaldon pushed out the previous Darvincians, but their genes heavily intermixed in the meantime, producing a unique look for modern southern Darvincian humans. The Kyrexzani had a mostly nomadic lifestyle across the northern plains and deserts, but eventually a group of them settled on the intensely fertile yet marsh-filled Nausicaa Island. There, the first organized government within the borders of modern Darvincia arose. It is unknown what they called themselves, but their modern name is the Nausicaakacaak.

− | + | The Maki'ifi Plague, or Amalthean ant plague, infected Darvincia starting in 732. It is traditionally sourced to the Maki'ifi Islands, although recent evidence has shown that this was not the case and that it actually started on Greater Frinka. However, the Maki'ifi were used as a scapegoat to blame for the cause of the plague. Many people during this period shut down their shops due to not knowing what creature carried this bug, and fearing many different sorts of animals. Among the species that people feared during this period included many arthropods, Saguans, people's pets, and even the XXXX beetle. In the northern regions of Darvincia, it was less extensive due to the higher Saguan population intermixed with the humans of the area.
− | + | The economic effects of the Maki'ifi plague were extremely severe on Darvincia especially, it not regaining its previous economic capacity until the year 764, over three decades after the plague began, and even after the communist revolution. Many of Darvincia's major corporations closed their doors during this period, even including some that had been operating for over a thousand years, including Tok Goods, which was later refounded as the main branch of the economy for food production. Every single wealthy individual in Darvincia lost at least some portion of their savings, most losing their entire life's wealth, or the wealth of both their ancestors as well as themselves. People went without food in large cities such as Sande Sitei and Makwk in this period because so many shops closed that the nearest open food store was a great distance away. Even despite all of this, post-plague the economy boomed back up rather quickly as shops reopened. People were soon able to find and purcahse what they wanted again.
− | + | However, the rich were still not satisfied as their wealth had collapsed underneath them. Many rich figures during this time either committed suicide or resorted to begging on the streets. The urban cityfolk too were also displeased with these events, leading directly into the revolutionary period.
− | + | === Revolutionary Period ===
− | + | Beginning in 750, Larhan, the precursor to Darvincia, erupted into chaos as many former businessmen and some grassroots leaders rose up and began to command and lead the disorganized protesters. Many local leaders protesting against the continued capitalist regime arose during this period. During the beginning, most only rallied up local towns or cities, like Hanska, a Saguan who lead rebellions in the north of Larhan near what is now modern Nausicaa. Government factions took control of and began heavily policing many cities within the borders of Larhan, including Wkegnwx, Kolok Senkec, and Digikwk. Rebellions within the nation were nearly stamped out by 754, with many leaders of this period being thrown in prison indefinitely or publicly lynched by the police force. Secret police also patrolled the countryside, seeking anyone who wanted to protest against the regime. However, word of this quickly spread and by late in 754, everyone knew of the secret police. A counterfaction appeared in northern Larhan, almost entirely composed of Saguans. They called themselves the Nausicaan Liberation Army, as the region was heavily populated by Saguans and desired to become independent just like Larhan. They were much more organized than the initial rebels, and managed to keep the secret police from ruining their effort through the three years that the old government remained powerful enough to actually stop dissent rather than meekly attempt at it.

− | + | The main rebel leader of this period, however, did not come until 756. Chaos erupted in Sande Sitei, now called the Battle of the Polànasi. During this chaotic battle, sections of the secret police turned on each other, thinking each other the rebels. Many rebels descended on this chaos, effectively killing all of the secret police in the city. One new protest leader emerged from this as a hero during this battle, Darvince. He was extremely popular among rebel groups, and as a result they became an organized force known as the Larhanin Army. They soon owned much of southern Darvincia, with the base of their control around the Maki'ifi Bay. They continued spreading, with several battles being lead by Darvince. All of the battles where Darvince acted as the general were won by the rebels, promoting his already heroic image. The Nausicaan rebellion also was gaining momentum, controlling all of Nausicaa Island and spreading onto the mainland, all the way to the borders of Darvincia. Darvince was killed after losing some of his seeming magic by some Larhan loyalists during a skirmish in the Frinkas. Most of the fighting was now in the periphery regions of Larhan, and Darvincia and Nausicaa both declared independence in late 759. However, Darvincia claimed that it controlled the entire region until the government was stabilized and they ratified the independence of Nausicaa in the winter of 761.
− | + | One of the leaders who took control of the nation of Darvincia was Esàsko. He too acted in a charismatic fashion, but without having to go through all the bloodshed of war. He quickly rose in ranks in the new communist government and was appointed head of state in 762. As head of state, he removed powers from many of the other branches of government, including an unsuccessful introduction of parliament as it was dissolved after just three years of operating by Esàsko in early 764. He slowly encroached on the rights of the people and re-implemented the secret police that had been present at the end of the capitalist regime just a few decades prior. With these actions, along with increased spying on the citizens of Darvincia, a few highly inspired politics took to the streets to protest this.
− | + | However, nowhere nearly enough people had been angered by these actions and many continued to live in fear of the state, and especially of Esàsko. In 787, the final straw came with a law that demanded of the rural populace's crop be given to the government for supposed redistribution. Some simply accepted this, but others who were poorer began to starve and wonder where all the food was going. The poor took to the streets due to not having enough to eat, but a powerful force was still needed to depose Esàsko from leadership and bring a better form of government to the nation. Esàsko was getting increasingly paranoid about his populace as they were turning against him, and they paranoid of him. In a fit of rage, Esàsko ordered every third male selected to become part of his army and help him in taking back Nausicaa. Many men who were selected refused to join, and a large portion of those who refused to join instead began to form a rebel army against the tyrannical Esàsko. They marched on the capital and caused Esàsko to flee the nation and he seeked asylum in Auspikitan. However, Auspikitan knew of his actions in Darvincia and so they imprisoned him. He attempted to escape many times but was eventually shot on an attempt to escape from prison, bringing a complete end to the nightmare that Esàsko brought upon the nation.

− | + | After this, Darvincia became much more stable internally, gaining a democratically elected government along with relative economic prosperity compared to before. However, some elections have had high tensions with signs of corruption from various parties, usually from the more radical parties. In 843, the first disastrous election occurred. Three prime ministers had ruled Darvincia since the democratization, but all of them were from the same party, and this party had also had an enormous majority in parliament for all six election cycles since then. This time, the election still went to the Utopian Socialism Party, but many districts, once people counted the number of voters in that district versus the number of votes, discovered that many had sent more votes than there was population in the area, with all of the votes going towards the Utopian Socialist party. They were soon disposed by a radical rightist party, at least compared to Darvincia's neighbors, which took back the government. Much of the nation was happier with this arrangement. Darvincia's form of democracy changed in the decade after, in 856, to make for a stable arrangement with more than two parties in the government.
− | + | Some important aspects of the Darvincian economy have been given to the people since this time. First of all, during the first period after Esàsko's rule, the Utopian Socialist party took control of most of Darvincia's larger businesses and ruled through them. The businesses were supposedly handled by the main body of government, but whenever the Utopian Socialist party suffered, the economy tended to suffer as well. Full control of them was given to the government soon after, and a system was set up for the economy to be truly controlled by the people and for the people. Unsurprisingly, at first, the economy became highly unbalanced, but over the next fifty years the majority of the population became more intelligent in terms of knowing what made the economy, and therefore their lives, better. Some areas of the Darvincian economy remained controlled by private companies rather than through elections and management in the upper halls, even today. Today, public amenities are controlled by the people, including public transport, temporary lodging such as hotels, schools, hospitals, and many other services. Food production was also recently taken over by the population in 962, leading to imbalance in the goods grown in Darvincia.
− | + | = Government = | |
− | + | The government of Darvincia is controlled mainly by an appointed Minister. The system includes many heads, all of which are called ministers. These ministers manage cabinets which meet and discuss the various areas of Darvincia's economy. There is also a much larger cabinet for lawmaking called the parliament, which is controlled by the prime minister. However, while the prime minister is the most well-known figure in Darvincian government and abroad, they are not the most powerful. The most powerful position in Darvincian government is controlled by the Minister of Ministers, which basically controls a meta-cabinet in which all the ministers meet, which is managed by the Minister of Ministers. Every seven years, a full election occurs in which the ministers for every cabinet, including the Minister's Cabinet occurs. In the second and fifth years after an election, the parliament is renewed as well. The last full election was in 983, and the last five parliament renewals occured in 983, 981, 978, 976, and 974.
+ | Darvincia is largely a multiparty democracy with a relatively high number of votes put in popular vote rather than being handled by the parliament. The parliament still tends to handle much of the issues that are decided on for Darvincia, as there are simply too many issues for all of them to be given to the public. Various parties have controlled the government since Darvincia became a democracy. For 89 years out of 104, from 842 to 946, the Blaist Communist Party had the largest fraction of the parliament, at one point peaking at over two thirds of parliament members. This stronghold dissolved as Darvincia's culture shifted more towards its Amalthean origins in the east. Presently, no party has a majority in parliament.

− | + | There are four main cabinets which make up most of the power of the government. The cabinets are parliament, the Minister's Cabinet, the cabinet for economic standards, and the Law's Cabinet. A variety of other cabinets exist which concern themselves over various issues, such as health, education, industry, policing the country, scientific research, the space agency, transportation, and various smaller matters as well. Most cabinets have between ten to thirty members. As a rule, the smaller the cabinet, the less crucial they are to the running of the government. Cabinets grow and shrink as interest waxes and wanes over varying issues in the nation. Currently, there is a great deal of interest in the Cabinet for Space Research and so it has 88 members.
− | |||
− | |||
− | |||
− | + | The minister of every body of government must approve any laws which pass through each cabinet, but they can be overriden if either the cabinet they control votes three quarters against their decision, or the Minister's Minister vetoes their veto. More important bills are also given to the public to vote on for approval. The public has the highest level of power over the government, with cabinet members second, and ministers coming in last. If a bill is non-urgent, then the voting period is a very long two months. If a matter is more urgent and controversial among the populace, such as being invaded by another nation, then the cabinet and public both have only three days to come to a consensus on the matter. Dedicated voting locations exist to provide for these purposes, as there are usually several different polls that the public can be voting in.

− | + | Parliament acts much like it does in other nations, however it has much less power. It is mainly concerned with creating laws about the social affairs in the country, acting mainly as an official provider of moral guiance per the law. Other miscellaneous matters may be put before the parliament as well, keeping the number of cabinets to a manageable amount for the Minister's Cabinet. Parliament also is the largest cabinet with usually between 250 and 300 members. It meets every weekday and is the most publicized of all the branches of government. The parties of the members in parliament is determined by the amount of people who vote for a certain party. If one third of the vote goes towards a certain party, then one third of parliament members will be of that party. Parliament members may switch parties to stay in parliament, but they must take into account the changed views of their new party.

Prehistory
Darvincia's early history mainly concerns the migrations of various peoples about Nausikkak, both human and Saguan.
Around 2500 BG, the Auspiks were pushed south into Darvincia by the arrival of Himalians. It is unknown what they called themselves, but their modern name is the Nausicaakacaak.
pre-revolution stuff but not like prehistory
The Maki'ifi Plague, or Amalthean ant plague, infected Darvincia starting in 732.
The economic effects of the Maki'ifi plague were extremely severe on Darvincia especially, it not regaining its previous economic capacity until the year 764, over three decades after the plague began, and even after the communist revolution. Even despite all of this, post-plague the economy boomed back up rather quickly as shops reopened. People were soon able to find and purcahse what they wanted again.
However, the rich were still not satisfied as their wealth had collapsed underneath them. Many rich figures during this time either committed suicide or resorted to begging on the streets. The urban cityfolk too were also displeased with these events, leading directly into the revolutionary period.
Revolutionary Period
Beginning in 750, Larhan, the precursor to Darvincia, erupted into chaos as many former businessmen and some grassroots leaders rose up and began to command and lead the disorganized protesters. Many local leaders protesting against the continued capitalist regime arose during this period. During the beginning, most only rallied up local towns or cities, like Hanska, a Saguan who lead rebellions in the north of Larhan near what is now modern Nausicaa. The main rebel leader of this period, however, did not come until 756. However, Darvincia claimed that it controlled the entire region until the government was stabilized and they ratified the independence of Nausicaa in the winter of 761.
One of the leaders who took control of the nation of Darvincia was Esàsko. He too acted in a charismatic fashion, but without having to go through all the bloodshed of war. He quickly rose in ranks in the new communist government and was appointed head of state in 762. He attempted to escape many times but was eventually shot on an attempt to escape from prison, bringing a complete end to the nightmare that Esàsko brought upon the nation.
- "The Saguan nation, our northern neighbor, I don't think there's been a time so ripe for returning their lands to our grateful empire. An army the likes has never been seen before must be raised so that we can defend ourselves and return the ancient pride of Larhan to our nation!"

Recent Peace
After this, Darvincia became much more stable internally, gaining a democratically elected government along with relative economic prosperity compared to before. Darvincia's form of democracy changed in the decade after, in 856, to make for a stable arrangement with more than two parties in the government.
Some important aspects of the Darvincian economy have been given to the people since this time.
Government
The government of Darvincia is controlled mainly by an appointed Minister.
Darvincia is largely a multiparty democracy with a relatively high number of votes put in popular vote rather than being handled by the parliament.
There are four main cabinets which make up most of the power of the government.
The minister of every body of government must approve any laws which pass through each cabinet, but they can be overriden if either the cabinet they control votes three quarters against their decision, or the Minister's Minister vetoes their veto.
Parliament acts much like it does in other nations, however it has much less power.
The Minister's cabinet consists of all the ministers of every cabinet, along with the Minister's Minister, who manages the Minister's cabinet and holds the most power of any figure in Darvincia.
The cabinet for economic standards holds the most control over the goings-on within Darvincian society.
The Law's Cabinet enacts and proposes a variety of laws within the nation. They have some overlap with the Police cabinet, but are mainly concerned with creating the laws rather than enforcing them. As the laws within Darvincia vary from province to province, they also provide information on how the laws differ and give permits for performing specific tasks.
