After the Late Social Justice Wars broke out in 627, it spread to the eastern countries in 630, with almost the entire hemisphere forming an alliance against Blaist Blaland - an event the Blaist government had not anticipated. Although the borders were fortified, the minimal Blaist defenses were quickly overrun, and the enemy quickly headed towards the nearest large cities - Sovkax close to the border and Kaxhoz further to the west. They reached Sovkax within a few weeks and began a campaign to surround the city by land, and by 631 they had gained control of the land, although Blaist Blaland's fleet still had full control of the coast, enabling transport of reinforcements and supplies into the city. Several battles happened between the Blaist navy protecting the supply line and artillery from the land.
The situation for the city worsened in 631 and the beginning of 632, but the mobilization of the entire city's population in civillian defense programs, constructing trenches and barricading the outskirts of the city, made it impossible for the enemy to enter the city, and they suffered hundreds of thousands of casualties.
By 633 the Blaist armies had encircled the armies heading for Kaxhoz, and after success, they headed to lift the encirclement of Sovkax and on an offensive campaign into the attacking country. This campaign was supported by southeastern armies, and encircled the retreating armies from Sovkax in 635.
